Good and possibly bad news.

The tests run last week show that there currently is no neuroblastoma in Austin's body. Absolutely great!!!! Praise God!

The scan does shows a mass in the other side of his neck that they were not able to identify. They must do more tests to determine what's up.

Additionally he has lost more of his hearing and will have to have stronger hearing aids with the possibility that he will lose his hearing completely.

Yet he is a very happy little boy right now and he has a very happy Pepaw who still believes this will still work out alright.

Bill

Above is a link to the visit by Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh. Austin says she is his girl friend and he consented to let her be a pirate when she showed him her tattoo. What a sweet person she must be.

He came by the house today and they had some pix with him wearing the GM and holding it. He also autographed one of her pictures. He is looking good and was full of smiles and energy.

The video was awesome. Kerry has a great spirit. And she wore the nose when she won. Very glad to hear Austin's hangin tough, Hott. I think about him quite often. He's an inspiration.

Austin and his mother pulled up next to me today at a traffic light. He was waving and jabbering at me. I said:"You're looking good today and his reply was: "I know". That boy cracks me up!!

Finally received an update on the mass in Austin's neck. The doctors are satisfied that it is only scar tissue and at this point he has no cancer in his body. He has a 50/50 chance of it not coming back which beats the fire out of his 1 in 3 chance of survival a few months back. We are truly blessed.

I want to take one last opportunity to thank you all for your thoughtfulness and kindness towards this sweet little boy. Your prayers and postive thoughts have been inspirational to me and my family.

I will leave this thread intact for a week so you all can get one last chance to view the video then I will delete it.

Thanks again to JTB and co for letting this thread run so long.

Bill. Wonderful news. A phenomenal outcome. I'm thrilled for Austin, and equally happy for the devoted family members who help make this miracle a reality.

Hott - great news. I'm so happy for all concerned.

BTW - I will not delete this thread. I'll archive it. Someday soon Austin may want to read about how his grandpa reached out to others for positive thoughts and prayers.

I guess my silence has been deafening. It hasn't been by choice but I didn't know quite what to say.

To the best of my knowledge Austin is doing very well. Mrs HOTT and I haven't seen him since late in March. Austin's mother has given his Dad ( my son ) the boot and got married within two weeks of doing so. It's all very bizarre and has been with her from the start. I won't share anymore of my feelings toward her but I'm sure some of you may have felt the vibes for some time. The end result is that she is denying us accesss to our little guys. It is both cruel and spiteful and we are power less to do anything about it.

I apologize for my silence when I'm sure some of you have been wondering. I'm just now getting to where I can discuss this rationally.

Once again, my thanks to each of you who have been in Austin's corner for so long. We have witnessed a miracle!

I think its horrible for someone to hold their kid from a loving grandparent/s regardless of the reason, there is no excuse for it period. She is only hurting her son and denying time he may never have a chance to make up.

At least Austin is "doing very well".

A women with a vendetta is a dangerous thing.. Many people end up hurt but in the end it is always the person with the vendetta who ends up alone and hurting. All you can do is be civil and cherish every moment you get... Eventually things work out the way they should.

How much longer will this shit have to happen before someone steps in to acknowledge that there is a problem with this system? This is fucking bullshit and quite honestly, has ruined my night. I'm sorry to hear that Hott. I hope some way in the future becomes available for you to see Austin. He's been through so much already and there is no need for this shit. No need for it.

I got some some very good news yesterday. The doctors have decided to remove the port they had placed in his chest back when all this started! This is significant in that it shows their prognosis is strongly to the positive side for his future.

Awesome news about Austin. Hopefully Mom comes to her senses soon and realizes that Austin still needs the support of all who love him.

Bill,
So sorry to hear all of this...I have been out of the loop on this site for quite some time and came back to read the posts about Steve McNair's death...I hope things work out for you and your grandson and for your son's sake as well...I guess the silver lining in the cloud for you is that your grandson may be cancer free...with McNair's death, it shows us all that life is too short on this earth...maybe your ex-daughter-in-law will come to her senses and and allow her son to have some type of contact with her family...Keep the Faith...as always.....Usten LuvYaBlue...may God be with you and your family and our beloved #9......

That's great to hear, Bill. Starting back to school is a huge step. I bet he is really excited. He'll have some good stories to tell his buds. Thanks for the update. Btw, my uncle who lives in Cincinnati, was the Fire Chief in Lockland for years (and my grandfather before him). He's retired now but he was diagnosed with lung cancer last month. He just had surgery two weeks ago to remove the infected parts of his lungs and after the sugery, the biopsy came back negative. It was fungus in his lungs probably, from occupational hazzards, and they were able to remove it and he's going great, so I'm feeling pretty blessed too.
